Here’s today’s Bottom Line:

Greetings! Still not much to talk about in the weather world. Bone dry conditions will persist through at least next Wednesday now, with near-zero rain chances.

Meanwhile the nor’easter has indeed shed its surface fronts and has become Subtropical Storm Josephine.

So what’s the difference between a subtropical storm and a tropical storm? The primary difference lies in their energy source and structure: tropical storms are warm-core systems fueled exclusively by the heat and moisture of warm ocean waters, featuring symmetrical clouds and peak winds near the center. Subtropical storms are hybrid systems powered by a mix of warm ocean heat and the temperature contrast between colliding air masses, resulting in a lopsided, asymmetrical shape with strongest winds located farther from the center. Tropical systems have no fronts while subtropical systems can have very weak frontal boundaries.

Josephine is expected to become fully tropical later today and possibly increase to a low-end hurricane. The hurricane status should be short-lived as she encounters cold North Atlantic waters and fades into the annals of history by early next week.

But again, there’s no impact here. High-and-dry for the next 7 days. Drought conditions are going to worsen so start being mindful of outdoor burn situations.
