Due to increased fire risk, the N.C. Forest Service has issued a ban on all open burning and has canceled all burning permits statewide effective 8 a.m. Friday, March 21, until further notice. WPD Urges Caution as Vehicle Break-ins Increase

Whiteville Police are investigating a string of vehicle thefts and vehicle  break-ins in recent weeks. In a social media post, WPD urged residents to lock vehicles, remove all valuables and park in well-lit areas whenever possible. The thieves have been targeting electronics, cash and firearms as well as stealing the actual vehicles in several cases. Anyone with information is asked to call the Whiteville Police at 910.642.5111.

Three Counts of First Degree Murder

Kevin Musser faces three counts of first degree murder and other charges after allegedly stabbing three men in Clarkton Monday night. The Bladen Sheriff’s office reported that Musser came to the door of the home holding a handgun and wearing bloody clothes. Daniel Dennis, Randy Benton and Phillip Palmer died in the incident.
