The victim struck by a car on Powell Boulevard in Whiteville Friday night will recover. Lonnie Cardill, 27, ran into traffic near Hay Street and into the path of a passing vehicle, Whiteville Police said. Cardill was wearing dark clothing when he reportedly ran away from a nearby group home after having an argument with his caretaker.
