Ronald Boyd Hamm, 77, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2021. He was born Nov. 1, 1943, in Kings Mountain, to the late Gilmore Boyd Hamm and Edna Galloway Hamm. He was preceded in death by his stepson, Joseph Williamson; one brother, Scott Hamm; and a grandson, Micheal Edwards.
Ron had a lifelong love of the outdoors and was always outside taking in all that nature had to offer. He worked in textiles all of his life, finishing his career as the Vice President of Operations of Archer Trim in Robeson County.
After his children and grandchildren, helping others was the great joy of his life. He was an active member of the Lake Waccamaw community, which he loved. He was a member of and served as an elder of the Lake Waccamaw Presbyterian Church and sat on the board of the Lake Waccamaw Food Ministry.
In accordance with his wishes, a celebration of life will be held Wednesday, May 19 at Lake Waccamaw Presbyterian Church, 301 Church St. Lake Waccamaw, N.C. 28450. The family will receive visitors from 2–3:30 p.m. and the service will be held at 4 p.m. Peacock Funeral Home of Whiteville is serving the family.
He is survived by his wife and the love of his life Nancy Stone Hamm; his three children, Lisa Hamm, Ronda Giles and husband, Charles Giles, and Robert Hamm and his partner, Jessie Fulton; five grandchildren, Christopher Hamm, Elaine Gaston, Brittney Giles, Tasha Witherspoon and Brody Follansbee; three sisters, Linda Witherspoon and husband, Yates Witherspoon, Janet Scarborough and husband, David Scarborough and Thelda Wood; one sister-in-law, Cathey Hamm; former daughter-in-law, Sarah Huber; and his lifelong best friend John Wright; as well as countless extended family and loved ones.
