Sidney Eugene “Gene” Malpass, age 73, of Delco, passed away peacefully at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Angel House in Whiteville on Thursday, July 29, 2021.
He was born in Columbus County to the late Sidney Malpass and Lois Reeves Malpass on December 28, 1947. In addition to his parents, He is preceded in death by his sister; Judy Dale Malpass and his brother; Bobby Malpass.
Gene is survived by his wife; Toni Thomas Malpass of Delco, a son; Shelton Lowery of Delco, two daughters; Eugenia “Gina” Jenkins of Delco and Jessica Pugh of Newport News, Va, a sister Becky Bigford of Atkinson, NC, two brothers; Billy Malpass and Jerry Malpass both of Delco, 11 grandchildren; Michael Lowery, Jessica Lowery, Junior Lowery, Cheyenne Lowery, Cody Lowery, Hunter Dunn, Conner Dunn, Ericka Carden, Conner Davis, McKenzie Pugh, and Addelyn Pugh, and one great granchild; Bella Lowery.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 1, 2021, at Red Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church at 4:00 pm with Rev. Calvin Malpass officiating. Burial will follow in Champion Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 3:45 pm at the church prior to the service.
