LAKE WACCAMAW— Ouziyiah Reaves scored two touchdowns to lead the West Columbus Vikings to victory over East Columbus 35-8 on Friday night. The Vikings moved to 1-2 in the Carolina Conference and 2-4 on the year with the win.
West Columbus scored first in the second quarter as Reaves found the endzone from two yards out to put the Vikings up 6-0. DJ Graham ran in the two-point conversion to make the score 8-0 with 9:03 remaining in the second quarter.
Reaves added a second rushing touchdown with 6:16 remaining in the half to push the Vikings advantage to 15-0. The Vikings padded their lead with another touchdown to make the score 21-0 at the half.
In the second half, Charley McLeod recovered a fumble and rambled to the house to put the score 28-0 in favor of West Columbus with 11:00 minutes remaining in the third period.
With 4:28 remaining in the third quarter, the Gators got on the scoreboard as Demetrius Dexter hit Dawson Crosby for a 11-yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to 28-8. Crosby converted the two-point conversion.
Graham passed to Santonio Vereen for the final score to make it West Columbus 35, East Columbus 8 for the final.
East Columbus falls to 1-2 in the Carolina Conference and 3-4 on the season. The Gators travel to Elizabethtown on Friday to face East Bladen (2-0, 5-2), while West Columbus (1-2, 2-4) will host North Duplin (0-2, 3-2) in Cerro Gordo.
