1924 – 2021
Mrs. Meredith Patrick Freeman 96, of Bolton passed on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at her home. She was born December 18, 1924 in Bladen County, the daughter of the late Alexander Stanley Patrick and Nettie Freeman Patrick.
Her husband, Rossie Freeman preceded her in death. Mrs. Freeman was a 27 year member of the American Legion Auxilliary. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in the Buckhead community, Bolton. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed quilting and embroidery. She loved to research American Indian history and
teach it to children. She was an Elder Mother of eight American Indian Tribes in North Carolina.
She is survived by a son , Joseph McKinsley Freeman and wife, Kay of Bolton; a daughter, Millie A. Freeman of Bolton; grandchildren, Michael Freeman, Ashley Freeman, Julie Freeman, Tabitha Bell and Fran Redwine; nine great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James Nelson Freeman of Bolton; a daughter, Susie Freeman Woodle of Wilmington; brothers, W.G. Patrick, Hezzie Patrick, Ennis Patrick, and Olif Patrick; sisters, Margerite Gasman, Zadie Patrick, Vera Mae Freeman, Pauline Jabowuski and Leola Little; grandchildren, Chris Freeman and Mary Freeman.
Her funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Sunday, September 12, 2021 at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Don Carter, Rev. Mike Jacobs and Rev. Priscilla Jacobs officiating. Viewing will be 1:00 – 2:00 pm Sunday at the church.
The family will receive visitors after the service at Mrs. Freeman’s home from 4:00-6:00 pm.
