Virginia Mae Blackwell Cartrette, age 86 of Clarendon, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at McLeod Seacoast Hospital in Little River.
Virginia was born on September 29, 1935, in Columbus County, to the late Hosea and Emma Alice Martin Blackwell. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Rozier Blackwell, Aldred “Bob” Blackwell, Grady “Buddy” Blackwell, George Blackwell, Melba B. Turbeville, and Betty “Beth” B. Carter.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, 2021, at Myrtle Green Cemetery in Tabor City, with Rev. Morris Worley officiating.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00, Saturday evening at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn.
She is survived by a daughter, Jeanette C. Hodge of Elizabeth City; two sons, Elbert “Buddy” Cartrette and Billy Joe Cartrette both of Clarendon; sisters, Alice Burns of Fayetteville, Bessie Smith of Charleston; seven grandchildren, Julie Gregory, Susan Godbout (Chris), Melitta Smith (Joe), Tara Stewart (Tony), Teresa Cartrette, Kevin Cartrette, Michael Hodge (Terry); great-grandchildren, Tiffany Gregory (Zach), Whitney Adams (Joe), Jordan Gregory (Caitlyn), Jarrett Gregory, Jacob Gregory, Alison Worley (Keith), Wesley Turley, Jaymne Smith, Jozaey Smith, Jezlyn Smith, Tristan Stewart, and Troy Stewart.
