April 13, 1942 ~ November 3, 2021 (age 79)
Jerry L. Rhodes, 79, husband of the late Estalene “Peg” Rhodes, passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 13, 1942 in Loris, a son of the late Johnny Rhodes and Doug and Dezzie (Soles) Small.
Jerry was a heavy equipment operator, and could build anything from a road to a pond. He was known as the “Collard Man” and loved fishing.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Lynn Rhodes and Bradley “Dinky” Rhodes; four daughters, Barbara “Bobbi” Hardee, Cyndi (Ricky) Lawson, Cathy Rhodes, and Crystal Oxendine; brother, Wayne (Alice) Small; sister, Brenda Britt; seven grandchildren, Courtney (Daniel) Manning, Jami (Matthew) Britt, Kayla (Justin) Holt, Allen (Leighann) Oxendine, Alexis Oxendine, Mark Rhodes, and Braylen Rhodes; and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a special friend, Frances Ward, and special cousins, Joby Cox and Cheryl Coble, and many other friends, nieces, and nephews.
A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Old Springfield Cemetery,
directed by Inman Ward Funeral Home of Tabor City, with Rev. Cory Goodman officiating.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the cemetery.
