Richard Eugene Johnson of Tabor City went home to be with Jesus on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 8:50 AM. Born April 22, 1946 in Columbus County, he was 75 and born to Toy and Elverta Johnson, who preceded him in death.
Richard was a US Navy Veteran and enjoyed his hobby of fishing with his best friends, Troy Hardee and Lavelle Coleman. He was a lifelong member of the VFW, and was a Master Mason of the Scottish Rite, Acacia Lodge #94, and also was a Shriner.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carolyn Johnson, and his four legged friend, Buddy, of the home; two brothers, Grady (Martha) Duncan of Chadbourn and Ronnie (Carolyn) Johnson of Lexington, SC; and two sisters, Deanie Boyd of Mebane, NC and Carrie (Jack) Rising of Tabor City.
He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth Johnson and Arvell Duncan, and one sister, Dorothy Borino.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 26 in New Life Baptist Church, with burial in Myrtle Green Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM, also at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 206 Warrior Trail, Whiteville, NC 28472.
