NFL: The Kansas City Chiefs moved to atop the NFL’s elite with an exciting overtime win in San Diego, moving to 10-4 on the season. The battle of the quarterback did not disappoint. Patrick Mahomes connected with Travis Kelse for a 34-yard touchdown to end the game in walk off style. Kelce also scored on a 7-yard touchdown with just over a minute left in the fourth quarter to tie the game and bring it to overtime. Mahomes threw for a season high 410 yards, on 31/47 passing with three touchdowns and one interception. Travis Kelce finished with 10 catches and 191 yards, with the two mentioned touchdowns. Tyreek Hill also had a great game with 12 catches for 148-yards and a touchdown. The Chiefs now move two games ahead of the Chargers in their Division. Herbert, QB for the Chargers, had a solid game. Herbert had 236-yards on 22/38 passing with two touchdowns passing and one on the ground. The Chargers fall to 8-6 on the season.

Double Header of games scheduled on the NFL Network tomorrow. The Raiders play the Browns in Cleveland at 4:30pm and the Patriots go into Indianapolis to take on the Colts at 8:20pm.

The Carolina Panthers are in Buffalo to take on the Bills. This game is Sunday at 1pm on FOX.

In other NFL league news Urban Meyer was let go as the Head Coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Former Assistant Coach Darrell Bevell was named Interim Head Coach.

In other football news, USFL will be returning in the spring of 2022, with eight franchises playing at one location, to be named at a later dat, in the reboot of the League that ran originally 1983-1986. The USFL season will start in April of 2022. It will be a 10-game season, with games to be played on Saturdays and Sundays, with a television deal with FOX Sports.

NBA: Eight games on the schedule in the NBA tonight. The Charlotte Hornets will be in San Antonio tonight, tip-off is 10pm. The Hornets face the league leading Phoenix Suns, 21-5, on Sunday as they continue their road trip. The Hornets don’t have another home game till after Christmas, December 27, when the Host Houston.

The Utah Jazz have hired former longtime Boston Celtic execution and NBA player Danny Ainge. Ainge spent 18 seasons with the Celtics and last won a Championship in 2008. Utah hired Danny Ainge to oversee all basketball operations. No details of the deal have been released.

MLB: The New York Mets have narrowed it down to three Manager prospects and will begin their second round of interviews. Buck Showalter is the favorite for the position at the moment. Joe Espada is also on the short-list of candidates. Espada is also in the running for the Oakland A’s Managers position. Tampa Bay’s Bench coach Matt Quatraro is also expected to be interviewed. The New York Mets haven’t made the playoffs since 2016 and had a record of 77-85 in 2021.

It is the ninth week of the MLB work stoppage, AKA the Strike. The is no end in sight as both sides remain on opposite sides of the CBA, the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Like mentioned in previous articles on this story, the CBA is an extensive and important part of any organized and professional league. It handles everything from payroll, to on the road accommodations for the teams and players. No agreement is expected to be completed before the end of this year. It is more likely that an agreement will be reached in February, before the pitchers and catchers are expected to report for team related work outs and activities.

NHL: The Carolina Hurricanes home game, scheduled for tomorrow, will go on as planned. Six players tested positive for Covid-19 before the Minnesota game on Tuesday, causing that game to get postponed. On Monday, the Carolina team placed forwards Sabastian Aho and Seth Jarvis on Covid Protocol as well as a staff member. On Tuesday, the Hurricanes placed Ian Cole, Steven Lorentz, Jordan Staal and Andrei Svechnikov on the list. Right now, the team plans to have 16 players available for the game. The Carolina team is believed to have been infected while in Calgary on their recent trip to Canada. The Calgary Flames have had four games already postponed and there is no set date for them to return to action.

NCAA Ohio State and UCLA have withdrawn from this weekend’s games in the CBS Holiday Classic, due to Covid-19. The Buckeyes were scheduled to play Kentucky and UCLA was to face the Tarheels. Both North Carolina and Kentucky will play each other tomorrow on CBS in Las Vegas, coverage starts at 5:30pm.

North Carolina-Wilmington Seahawks travels to High Point tomorrow with a 2pm tip-off.

10-1 Wake Forrest travels to 5-4 Charlotte tonight in this ACC matchup. This game has a 9pm start on the ACC Network

Duke versus Cleveland State scheduled for tomorrow night has also been cancelled due to Covid-19. Dukes next scheduled game is December 22 hosting Virginia Tech at 9pm, on ESPN2.

LOCAL SPORTS: No score have been reported from the Boys Varsity Basketball matchup between South Columbus and Loris last night. South Columbus will face East Bladen this afternoon at 4pm.

Varsity Basketball tonight, West Bladen will be at East Columbus at 7:30pm. West Columbus travels to Lakewood with a 7:30pm start. Lakewood is winless on the season at 0-5 and the Vikings are 5-1.

Last Night in Girls Varsity Basketball the South Columbus Lady Vikings lost 56-19. They still are winless on the season. They will face East Bladen tonight at 6pm.

The Whiteville Lady Wolfpack also lost last night 40-24 in Fairmont, falling to 3-5 on the season.

The East Columbus Lady Gators host the West Bladen Lady Knights tonight at 6pm.

A winless West Columbus squad will also face a winless Lakewood team tonight at 6pm.
