Dr. Don Thomas Peacock, Jr., 59, of Whiteville, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, who loved and adored him, on Friday, January 21, 2022.
He was born on December 17, 1962 in Whiteville, the son of Peggy Rickborn Peacock, and the late Don Thomas Peacock, Sr.
In addition to his father, Don, he was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, A.D. and Kathel Lee Peacock and maternal grandparents, Eddie and Alma Rickborn, and Father-in-law, A. Lindburgh King.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Sonya King Peacock, and beloved son, Don Thomas “Trey” Peacock, III; his mother, Peggy of Whiteville; two brothers, Craig Peacock of Whiteville, Kyle Peacock (Marie) of Lake Waccamaw; mother-in-law, Wilma Dutton King of Ash; sister-in-law Edna King Dowless (Tim), Brother-in-laws Mike King (Lynn), Marshall King (Mickie), A.L. King (Faith), and Evan King (Rachel) and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Dr. Peacock was a graduate of Whiteville High School. He earned his Bachelors in Biology from East Carolina University in 1986, and then his Masters in Biology (immunology) in 1990. After obtaining his Masters degree, he attended Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine, Philadelphia, PA, and graduated with honors in 1994, with a Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine. In January 1997, he returned home to Whiteville, and established Peacock Foot Clinic, where he was in private practice until June of 2021. Throughout the years, he has published more than 20 articles, and has lectured all across the US and abroad.
He was known for his great love of music, and enjoyed playing the guitar and singing with his band.
In lieu of a visitation, Dr. Peacock will lie in repose for viewing at his family’s funeral home on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 from 10:00 AM-7:00 PM. His family welcomes friends, patients and colleagues to visit.
Due to the pandemic, a private service has been scheduled, and will be conducted by Rev. Ronnie Wilson and Rev. Gary Ledbetter. Burial will be in Peacock’s Columbus Memorial Park.
