1/29/22 Sports Wrap Up 

NFL: The New York Giants hired Brian Daboll from the Buffalo Bills organization. Daboll was the Offensive Coordinator for the Bills and became the 20th head coach of the Giants in their 94-year history. Brain Daboll replaces Joe Judge who went 10-23 with the New York franchise. 

Pittsburgh Steelers current GM Kevin Colbert says he will step down after the 2022 NFL draft. 

AFC:  The Bengals now move on to face the Chiefs Sunday at 3pm on CBS.  

NFC:  The 49ers will face the Rams in the NFC Championship game on Sunday at 6:30pm on FOX. 

NBA Last Night’s Games: 117-114 was the final last night at the Spectrum Center, as the Hornets held on to beat the Los Angeles Lakers. Russell Westbrook led the Lakers with 35 points. LeBron James and Anthony Davis did not play. The Hornets were led by Miles Bridges who finished with 26 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Terry Rozier and LaMelo Ball each had 20 points. Kelly Oubre Jr and Gordon Hayward did not play. Charlotte is back on the floor tomorrow at the Spectrum Center as they host the Clippers at 1pm. 

Pistons lost to the Magic 119-103 

Hawks over the Celtics 108-92 

Pacers beat the Thunder 113-110 in overtime 

Clippers cannot handle the Heat 121-114. Jimmy Butler had 26 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Bam Adebayo finished with 20 points and 12 assists for Miami. 

Nuggets defeat the Pelicans 116-105. Another triple-double for Nikola Jokic, he finished with 29 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. 

Bulls fall to the Spurs 131-122 

Grizzlies over Jazz 119-109. Ja Morant grabs another triple-double with 30 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. 

Trail Blazers beat the Rockets 125-110. Domantas Sabonis had a triple-double with 24 points, 18 rebounds and 10 assists. 

Suns toast the Timberwolves 134-124. The Knicks lost to the Bucks 123-108. Gianis Antetokounmpo had 38 points and 13 rebounds. Dru Holiday had 24 points and 10 assists. Kris Middleton had 20 points.

Whiteville Lady Wolfpack beat the Gators of East Columbus 54-35. 

Tuesday:  Pender comes to Whiteville at 6pm.

Heide Trask travels to East Columbus 

Boys Varity Basketball:  Whiteville 79-58 over East Columbus. Zion Wilson finished the game with 23 points, 5 steals and 3 assists. Amari Best had a double-double with 12 points and 11 steals. Best also had 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
