Pennie Ruth Mitchell, age 87, of the Buckhead Community of Bolton, NC died Thursday, February 3, 2022 in Columbus Regional Healthcare, Whiteville, NC. She was born December 1, 1934 in Columbus County to the late James Patrick and Pearlie Freeman Patrick and the widow of Samuel David Mitchell.
She is survived by her daughter, Delma Mitchell Hathway (Larry) of Tabor City, NC; sisters, Della Frances Lanier (Rick) of the Maco Community, Lela Squires of the Northwest Community and Ottie Patrick of the Buckhead Community; grandchildren, Bryan Mitchell, Donna Locklear, Derrick Tatum, Michael Tatum, Eric Hathway, Chris Hathway, Kimberly Hathway, Kristen Hathway, Gretchen Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Devon Jacobs, Shayla Jacobs, Shailyn Tatum, Bryanda Mitchell, David Mitchell, Nathaniel Cruz, Makayla Hathway, Taylor Hathway, Hunter Hathway, Tristen Hathway, Winter Hathway, Ayden Hathway Bunch, Mac Hathway, Bella Hathway, Trinity Hathway, Remington Hathway, Landon Hathway, Jace Soles, Serenith Hathway, Camille Gore, Justin Hathway, Raelyn Hathway and Gabriel Oswald; great, great-grandchildren, Layton Jacobs, Alyssa Jacobs, Avlon Clark, Karmynn Clark and Brayden Atkinson.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her children, Patricia Ann Tatum (James), Samuel Ellis Mitchell and Francine Ramos (Elvis); granddaughter, April Hathway and great-granddaughter, Erica Hathway; her brothers, James Wesley Patrick, William Harlee Patrick, Raymond Patrick and Howard Patrick.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, February 8, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the New Hope Baptist Church.
Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at 3:00 PM in the New Hope Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
