Richard “Rick” Faulk ran into the sweet embrace of the son of God and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 4, 2022 at the age of 67 at Columbus Regional Hospital in Whiteville, N.C. He was surrounded by his faithful and loving wife of 48 years, Martha Gore Faulk along with his devoted daughters; Shelly Faulk Cullipher and Amanda Faulk Edwards.
Richard was born on February 2, 1955 at Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville, N.C. and he graduated from West Brunswick High School in 1973. A member of Gores Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Rick was a quiet and simple man, an avid hunter and fisherman, and a master craftsman who took pride in creating and growing things to share with others. He worked in construction for many years and labored as a farmer in the fields as well. He handcrafted beautiful woodwork, built buildings, and molded the landscape. Rick was a caring steward of nature and enjoyed observing God’s handiwork. He was the happiest when he could spend precious time with his family outdoors, sharing a meal, or at God’s house.
Rick worked diligently to teach his daughters and grandchildren; Victoria Evelynn Cullipher, Ethan Johnson Cullipher, Dylan Jackson Cullipher, Isabella Renee Cullipher, Madelyn Sarah Edwards, and George Conner Edwards to work hard, be good stewards of all that God has provided, and leave a legacy of forgiveness, humbleness, patience, and most of all love! In his infinite wisdom he would say, “Read Corinthians”!
In addition to his wife , daughters, and grandchildren, Rick leaves to cherish his memory two son-in-laws; Tim Cullipher and Matthew D. Edwards, a sister, Barbara Faulk Simmons (Steve), two nephews, Andy Simmons and Joshua Gore, three nieces; Angie Simmons, Heather Register, and Kelly Powell, and a host of great nieces and nephews.
Rick’s father, William Johnson “Dub” Faulk, and mother, Bernice Milligan Faulk along with father-in-law, Ralph George Gore and mother-in-law, Velma Smith Gore, and brother-in-law Ralph David Gore left their earthly home before him. Richard Johnson Faulk is rejoicing with the Lord and will one day see his family and friends again and walk in the fields of heaven together.
Rick’s life will be honored on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Gores Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Nakina. Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m. and his funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Gores Chapel Church Cemetery.
