2/3/22 Daily Sports Wrap Up 

Olympics:  Opening ceremony is tomorrow on NBC. 

Some pre-Opening Ceremony games last night in Beijing. 

US Womens Hockey suffered a huge loss on the ice. It was not to Finland as they won 5-2, but Brianna Decker. Brianna was taken off the ice in the first period after a leg injury. Decker was tripped from behind by Finland’s Ronja Savolainen and they both fell to the ice awkwardly. The star Forward will miss the rest of the games.  

There is some mixed double Curling  and other Ice Skating events on the schedule for today. 

NBA Last Night:  Charlotte lost to a hot Boston squad 113-107. LaMelo Ball scored a career-high of 38 points with 6 rebounds and 9 assists in the loss. The Hornets host the Cavaliers tomorrow night at 7pm in the Spectrum Center. 

Wizards defeat the 76ers 106-103 

Magic gets by the Pacers 119-118 

Knicks beat the Grizzlies 120-108. 23 points for Ja Morant. 

Cavaliers fall to the Rockets 115-104 

Thunder at the Mavericks 120-114 in overtime. Luka Doncic led all scorers with 40 points, he added 10 assists and 6 rebounds. 

Kings take down the Nets 112-101 

Nuggets beat the Jazz 108-104 

Trail Blazers lost to the Lakers 99-94. Anthony Davis had 30 points and 15 rebounds. 

Tonight:  Timberwolves versus the Pistons 7pm 

Heat and Spurs 7pm 

Suns at the Hawks 7:30pm TNT 

Raptors host the Bulls 7:30pm 

It is the Battle of Staples Center, as the Lakers and Clippers go at it on TNT at 10pm. 

Kings versus the Warriors 10pm 

NHL: The NHL All-Star game is Feb 5, in Paradise, Nevada at the T-Mobile Arena. The home of the Las Vegas Golden Knights, the game is at 3pm on ABC.  

The skills competition is on ESPN Feb 4, at 7:30pm 

The Hurricanes are back after the All-Star break on the ice Feb 7 in Toronto. 

Yesterday:  Oilers over the Capitals 5-3 

The Kraken blank the Islanders 3-0 

Kings beat the Red Wings 5-3 

Wild shutout the Blackhawks 5-0 

Flames defeat the Coyotes 4-2 

NCAA Men’s Basketball Yesterday: 

Longwood 56-48 over UNC Ashville 

Western Carolina beats East Tennessee State 87-84 

Pittsburgh falls to Wake Forest 91-75 

Virginia Military 76-65 over UNC Greensboro 

Temple beats Eastern Carolina 71-63 

Syracuse defeated North Carolina State 89-82. Jake LaRavia finished with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Alondes Williams had a strong game with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. 

Campbell lost 54-58 to Presbyterian

North Carolina-Wilmington and Elon 7pm 

Carolina Coastal and Texas-Arlington has been canceled. 

NFL:  Super Bowl LVI (56) is Feb 13 at 6:30pm, in Los Angeles at SoFi Stadium. 

Bill Belichick has given his opinion of the greatest football player of all time, you guessed it Tom Brady no surprise since Tom Brady spent 22 seasons under Belichick. I am expecting a statement from Coach Belichick saying that hoodies are his preferred game day field attire.
