2/19/22 Daily Sports Wrap Up 

Local Sports: 

Girls Varsity Basketball:  Whiteville beat Heide Trask 65-41. It was a team victory as every player had a chance to make a difference that helped lead the Lady Wolfpack to the Waccamaw Conference Women’s Varsity Basketball Championship. 

Boys Varsity Basketball:  Whiteville led for over three quarters, but Pender hit their foul shots, recovered the turnovers, and took the victory 69-64.  

Varsity Baseball:  The Whiteville Wolfpack has a scrimmage game this Friday, at 4pm, at home. Every pitch will be covered live on your hometown station Kool 103.9FM and streaming at www.kool1039radio.com. 

Varsity Softball:  Lady Wolfpack faces West Bladen today at 2pm in a scrimmage. 

NBA:  The 71st NBA All Star Break is upon us. Skills competition is today, and the game is on Sunday at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. The teams are captained by LeBron James and Kevin Durant. Regular games resume Thursday, Feb 24. 

Last night had the rising stars competition and the Celebrity game 

Team Lebron has Giannis and Steph Curry, and Team Durant has Embiid and and Ja Morant 

NHL Yesterday: 

The Hurricanes beat the Predators 5-3. Andrei Svechnikov had 2 goals, Jacob Slavin, Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Brady Skjei scored goals for Carolina. Frederik Andersen stopped 28 shots. The Hurricanes are back in action Sunday at 1pm in Boston versus the Bruins. 

Panthers beat the Wild 6-2 

Stars beat the Blackhawks 1-0 in a shootout 

Golden Knights lost the Kings 4-3 in overtime

NASCAR: Zane Smith took The NextEra Energy 250 last night. The race ended under caution due to a massive 19-car slam up as they approached the white flag for the final lap. Almost a 16 minute red flag was needed to clean up debris before the race could end. 

Upcoming Races:  The NASCAR Cup Series kicks off Sunday with the 64 running of The Daytona 500- The Great American Race coverage starts at 2:30 on FOX.
