During the late hours of March 15, 2022, Doris Estelle Wooten Thompson, entered into the presence of her Lord; she lived a wonderful life of 94 years.
A native of Columbus County, Doris was born on September 23, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Shadrach “Shade” Wooten and Minnie Page Wooten. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lacy R. Thompson, Sr.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 18, 2022, at Chadbourn Baptist Church, with Dr. David Vess officiating. Interment will follow in the Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Worthington Funeral Home.
She leaves behind three daughters, Joyce T. Long and her husband, Randy of Waxhaw, Gayle T. Williamson and her husband, Pete of Chadbourn, and Elaine T. Honeycutt and her husband, Jerome of Chadbourn; two sons, Lacy R. Thompson, Jr. and his wife, Maria of North Myrtle Beach, SC and Roy Shade Thompson and his wife, Kelly of Florence, SC.; nine grandchildren, Paige Hinson (Gregory) of Monroe, Jason Long (Michele) of Greenville, SC, Shanna Kay Williamson of Chadbourn, Jennifer Honeycutt (Eric Powell) of Chadbourn, Jordan Long of Washington, DC, Mary Lacy Williamson (Gina) of Little River, Christina Thompson of N. Myrtle Beach, Dylan Thompson of Florence, and Jacob Thompson of Charleston; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
