James Howard Turbeville, age 77, of Clarendon, NC died Sunday, March 20, 2022 in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born December 11, 1944 in Robeson County, NC, he was the son of the late William Howard Taft and Beulah Ray Turbeville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Faye Hilburn Turbeville.
He was a lifelong farmer and retired as Captain from the Columbus County Sheriff’s Department.
He is survived by his two daughters: Sharon Turbeville Barnhill of Clarendon, NC and Shelley Turbeville Byrd (Rev. J. Kenneth Byrd, Jr.) of Nashville, NC; six grandchildren: Talley Addison Barnhill, Tanner Russ Barnhill, Taylor Taft Barnhill, Kenley Elisabeth Byrd, John Isaac Byrd and James Andrew Byrd; one sister: Patricia Turbeville Duncan (Steve); along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2022 from 7 PM to 9 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 11AM in the Beaverdam Original Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery.
