Jimmy Elton Batten, age 77 of Lake Waccamaw, and formerly of Cerro Gordo, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Columbus Regional Healthcare System.
Jimmy was born on December 29, 1944, in Columbus County, to the late J.E. Batten and Myrtle Ellie Spivey Batten. He was the husband of the late, Virginia Mae Lee Batten who passed in 2011. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Roger Batten and Bobby Ray Batten.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Worthington Funeral Home, with Rev. Jonathan Simmons ad Rev. Derrick Batten officiating. Interment will follow in the Tyson Cemetery, Cerro Gordo.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-2:45, prior to the service on Sunday.
Surviving family includes four children, James Elton Batten, Kenneth Carl Batten (Pam), Gregory Lee Batten (Jackie), Glenda Gail Batten (Jeffrey), all of Chadbourn; siblings, Brenda Blackwell of Thomasville, Earlene Stewart of Chadbourn, Dale Batten of Chadbourn, Betsy Strickland (Jeffery) of High Point, Carolyn Bennett Winston Salem, Diane Thompson of Bladenboro, Eugene Batten (Patricia) of Chadbourn; 13 Grandchildren, and 16 Great-Grandchildren.
