3/7/22 Daily Sports Wrap Up 


NBA:  Hornets are back in action Tuesday as they host the Nets at the Spectrum Center. Tip-off is 7pm 

Last Night:  Kevin Durant scored 37 but it was not enough for the Nets, as the Celtics won at home 126-120. Celtics Jayson Tatum scored 54 points and led all scorers. Boston had 7 blocks. 

Suns fall to the Bucks 132-122. Kris Middleton scored 44, Dru Holiday finished with 24 points and Giannis Antetokounmpo ended the game with 19 points and 13 rebounds for the Bucks 

Wizards beat the Pacers 133-123 

Jazz defeated the Thunder 116-103 

Grizzlies lost to the Rockets 123-112. Ja Morant had 22 points in the loss for Memphis. 

Cavaliers take care of the Raptors 104-96 

Nuggets cage the Pelicans 138-130 in overtime. Nikola Jokic had another triple-double with 46 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists. Brandon Ingram led the Pelicans with 38 points and 9 assists. 

Clippers host the Knicks 116-93. The Knicks never trailed in this game.

Bulls at the 76ers 7pm 

Heat hosts the Rockets 7:30pm 

Trail Blazers versus the Timberwolves 8pm 

Mavericks host the Jazz 8:30pm 

Lakers and the Spurs 8:30pm 

Warriors at Nuggets 9pm 

Knicks continue the west coast trip versus the Kings tonight 10:30pm. 


NHL Yesterday:  The Hurricanes took down the Kraken 3-2. Teuvo Teravainen, Martin Necas and Nino Niederriter scored for Carolina. Antee Raanta stopped 28 shots for the Hurricanes. Carolina is 39-12-5 on the season and sits in first place in the Metropolitan Division. Carolina is back on the ice Thursday as they host the Avalanche at the PNC Arena. The puck drops at 7pm. 

Blues fall to the Devils 3-2 in overtime 

Kings blank the Sabres 3-0 

Stars tame the Wild 6-3 

Blackhawks get struck by the Lightning 6-3 

Rangers shot down the Jets 4-1 

The Sharks lost to the Ducks 3-2 in overtime 

Senators lost to the Golden Knights 2-1

Panthers and Sabres 7pm 

Maple Leafs versus the Blue Jackets 7pm 

Islanders host the Avalanche 7:30pm

NCAA Men’s Basketball Yesterday:  Elon falls to North Carolina-Wilmington 75-58 

Today:  Charleston versus North Carolina-Wilmington 8:30pm CBS Sports Network 

Selection Sunday is this week at 6pm on CBS, with the first games starting Tuesday March 15. The NCAA Championship game will be April 4 in New Orleans, Louisiana. 

 

NASCAR Cup Series:  Once again, the yellow flag gets some headline attention with 12 caution flags yesterday. It was almost two weeks in a row for Kyle Larson, but Alex Bowman took the checkered flag and Ross Chastain took third place in front of Kyle Bush in the Pennzoil 400 at the Las Vegas Speedway.  

Next up for the Cup Series next Sunday is the Ruoff Mortgage 500 at Phoenix Raceway in Avondale. The engines are scheduled to start at 3:30pm with TV coverage on FOX. 

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series: Back at Atlanta Motor Speedway on March 19 at 2:30pm 

NASCAR Xfinity Series: Continues March 12 in Phoenix 4:30pm on FS1 and MRN 


UFC: Colby Covington dominates Jorge Masvidal in UFC 272. Masvidal looked exhausted by the end of the battle. Covington still looked fresh and ready for more after his win.
