3/17/22 Daily Sports Wrap Up 

MLB Freddie Freeman signs with the Dodgers (6 years $162 million); 30 double headers added to the schedule to make up for the late start to the season. Double header games have been changed back to 9 inning games and starting the extra innings with a runner on second has also been removed. 

NBA Ben Simmons to get regular season action before the playoffs for the Brooklyn Nets 

Last Night: The Hornets stung the Hawks 116-106. LaMelo Ball had 22 points and 11 rebounds, Mason Plumlee had 12 points and 10 rebounds, Both Terry Rozier and Miles Bridges finished with 18 points for the Hornets. Charlotte is back on the floor Friday as they host the Mavericks at 7pm in the Spectrum Center. The game is nationally televised on NBATV 

76ers beat Cavaliers 118-114. Joel Embiid finished with 35 points and 17 rebounds for Philadelphia. 

Wizards fall to the Nuggets 127-109. Nikola Jokic put in another day’s work with 29 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists for Denver. 

Mavericks beat the Nets 113-111 at the buzzer, by former Net Spencer Dinwiddie who finished with 22 points. Luka Doncic ended the game with 37 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists for Dallas. 

Trail Blazers gets mugged by the Knicks 128-98. 

The Lakers lost to the Timberwolves 124-104. LeBron James ends the game with 19 points for the Lakers. Karl-Anthony Towns had 30 points and 8 rebounds for Minnesota. 

Suns take down the Rockets 129-112 

Spurs defeat the Thunder 122-120 

Bulls at the Jazz 125-110 

Celtics handle the Warriors 110-88. Steph Curry left the game in the second quarter with an injured left foot. His foot was landed on, during a play going for a loose ball. Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum both finished with 26 points for Boston. 

Bucks beat the Kings 135-126. Giannis Antetokounmpo finished the game with 36 points and Kris Middleton had 32 points for the Bucks. 

Raptors nip the Clippers 103-100 

Tonight: Only one game on the schedule tonight, the Magic host the Pistons at 7pm on NBATV 

NHL: The Hurricanes are on the ice tonight as they head to Cananda to face the Maple Leafs at 7pm. 

Last Night: Bruins fall to the Wild 4-2 

Blue Jackets beat the Senators 4-1 

Lightning cannot handle the Kraken 4-1 

The Flames are too hot for the Devils 6-3

NASCAR Cup Series: Next up it is the Folds of Honor 500 Sunday at the Atlanta Motor Speedway 3pm on FOX 

NASCAR Xfinity Series The next Xfinity Series race is the Nally Cars 250 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway on March 19 at 5pm on FS1. 

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is back at Atlanta Motor Speedway on March 19 at 2:30pm. 

Local Sports: Dixie Youth Baseball registrations are going on right now through April 1, for ages 13-14 at the Whiteville Parks and recreation building. You must bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate when registering. The price is 15 dollars for city residents and 25 dollars for county residents. 

T-Ball registration is currently underway through March 18 at the Whiteville Parks and Recreations building. T-Ball is for players 4-6 years old. A birth certificate is required at registration. Your child cannot turn 7 years old during the season and be 4 years old before the season starts. The cost is 15 dollars for city residents and 25 dollars for county residents.
