NHL Last Night: Carolina lost to the Stars 4-3 in a shootout. Dallas needed only 15 shots on Frederik Andersen to take care of business last night. Nino Niederreiter had a pair of goals and Vincent Trocheck accounted for Carolina’s goals. Carolina is back on the ice tomorrow in St. Louis against the Blues. The puck drops at 8pm.

NCAA Men’s Basketball: Both number one seeds Gonzaga and Arizona go down in the Sweet 16. The NCAA Championship game will be April 4 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Yesterday: (NCAA) Duke gets the job done and beats Texas Tech 78-73. It was Coach Krzyzewski’s first win in a Western Conference matchup (0-10 previously) and 100th win in the NCAA Tournament. Duke switched to man-to-man coverage in the final three minutes and were able to come from behind and win. Duke plays Arkansas in the Elite 8.

NASCAR: Brad Keselowski and Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing are the first to be penalized under NASCAR’s new car penalty structure. It was announced today that Brad Keselowski had been penalized 100 points and 10 playoff points for illegal parts modifications. NASCAR said that Keselowski’s No. 6 team had violated sections 14.1 and 14.5 of the NASCAR rule book regarding the external surface of the body panels on the car. Keselowski’s crew chief Matt McCall was also suspended four races for the violation. Roush Fenway Racing has the option of appealing the penalty in an effort to get it reduced or rescinded.
NASCAR Cup Series: The EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix is up next at the Circuits of Americas in Austin, Texas. Green Flag drops Sunday at 3:30pm and is on FOX TV.
NASCAR Xfinity Series: The Pit Boss 250 is up next in the Xfinity Series at Circuits of Americas in Austin, Texas Saturday at 4:30pm on FS1.
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series: The Camping World Truck Series is back March 26, at Circuits of Americas in Austin, Texas Saturday at 1pm
Local Sports: Dixie Youth Baseball registrations are going on right now through April 1, for ages 13-14 at the Whiteville Parks and recreation building. You must bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate when registering. The price is 15 dollars for city residents and 25 dollars for county residents.
