The two victims of Sunday’s shooting in Whiteville are recovering, according to police.
Paul Register Jr., 41, and Shamika McAllister, 41, were both struck by gunfire in the incident.
WPD reported that police were called to Patio Place Drive at Barbcrest Apartments around 10:21 p.m. to investigate shots being fired. At the scene they found McAllister and Register had been seriously wounded. Both were transported to Columbus regional, and Register was later transferred by helicopter to New Hanover Regional. Register and McAllister are in stable condition, according to WPD.
Another victim, Kwashera Chapman, was not injured.
Police recovered a number of shell casings at the scene, according to the report. Two vehicles also sustained damage in the shooting.
The investigation is continuing.
