Wolfpack Loses 8-3 Against St. Pauls at Home

St. Pauls versus Whiteville March 17, 2022

The Wolfpack lost to St. Pauls 6-3 last night. The Bulldogs showed up ready to play after losing 8-3 on Tuesday to the Wolfpack in St. Pauls. Ashton Hammonds was on the mound for Whiteville and had a little trouble with control. He gave up a run-in both the first, second and fifth innings. He had runners on base in each of his innings pitched but was able to pitch himself out of trouble most the time, even leaving the bases loaded for St. Pauls. Kyler Dowless came in for relief in the fifth inning with runners on base and in scoring position. Dowless had a nasty pick off at first base, to end the inning and Bulldogs threat with runners in scoring position. Cody Etheridge came in to close the game on the mound for the Wolfpack and threw very good, his fastball was finding the strike zone and popping the catcher’s mitt. The Whiteville defense has some good plays as well, including a nice play on a single to right field. St. Pauls scored a run on the hit, but Odham hit his cut-off man Lawson in front of the pitcher’s mound, the Lawson decided to cut down the runner trying to stretch a single into a double on an expected throw to the plate. Kyler Dowless, Grayson Bell, and JT Todd each had RBI singles accounting for the Wolfpack runs.

Whiteville is on the road Tuesday at East Bladen; the first pitch is scheduled for 6:30pm. You can catch the away game updates on Kool 103.9-FM radio and streaming at www.Kool1039Radio.com
