Local Varsity Baseball 

Whiteville is 15-3 on the season and has a perfect 8-0 conference record. The Wolfpack currently have a 13-game winning streak. Whiteville ends the regular season next week versus South Columbus tonight in Tabor City and at historic Legion Stadium on Thursday (Senior Night).

The South Columbus Stallions are 5-14 on the season. The Stallions have a 5-3 conference record. South Columbus wraps up the regular season with this week’s home and away game series against the Whiteville Wolfpack.

NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs

 The Bruins lost to the Hurricanes, 5-1. Carolina took only 25 shots on goal. Vincent Trocheck, TuevoTeravainen, Nino Neiderreiter, Seth Jarvis and Andrei Svechnikov scored for Carolina. Antti Raanta stopped 35/36shots. 

Lightning got blanked by the Maple Leafs, 5-0. 

Blues shut out the Wild, 4-0. 

Kings beat Oilers, 4-3,

Capitals at Panthers, 7:30 p.m. 

Predators at Avalanche, 9:30 p.m.

NASCAR Cup Series

The DuraMAX Drydene 400 presented by Reladyne was run a day late, but #9 Chase Elliot took the checkered flag. #47 Ricky Stenhouse came in second place and #1 Ross Chastain finished in third place. The Goodyear 400 is next up on May 8 at the Darlington Raceway. The flag drops at 3:30 p.m. 

NASCAR Xfinity Series: The Mahindra ROXOR 200 is Saturday, May 7 at 1:30 p.m. on FX1. 

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series: Next race is Friday May 6, in Darlington.
