The Greater Tabor City Chamber of Commerce will hold their 17th annual bass tournament on Saturday, May 28, at Lake Tabor. Registration begins at 5 a.m., and lines hit the water at 6 a.m. The fee to enter is $30 per person and includes the boat ramp access and lunch.

Participants have few rules to follow during the tournament. Fishermen are only allowed five fish at a time on the boat, and 4 ounces of weight will be deducted per dead fish. No live bait or jigger poles can be used, and boats must not come within 50 feet of another.

Cheating is highly frowned upon, and anyone caught doing so will automatically be disqualified. All live wells and coolers will be checked before the tournament, and anyone on needing to come in for any reason will have to do so at the blast off point.

If you are competing in the tournament, you aren’t allowed to fish the lake the Friday before. Men and women are encouraged to sign-up, and ties will be determined by the bigger fish.

The winners of the tournament must be present to claim their prizes. First place is $250, second $175, and third $100.
