Loleta Barnes McPherson, age 90, of the Beaverdam community, died Tuesday, July 5, 2022 in the Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehab Center, Whiteville, NC. Born July 28, 1931 in Robeson County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Neal Barnes and Marietha Wooddel Barnes and the widow of James Floyd McPherson.
She is survived by two daughters, Josephine Cannon of Nichols, SC and Andrea Faye Britt of Red Springs, NC; two sons, J.R. McPherson of Chadbourn, NC and James Wallace McPherson of Chadbourn, NC; one sister, Helen Snipes of Red Springs, NC; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Jerry McPherson; three sisters, Pansy Herring, Louise Lopushansky, and Georgia Lewis; two brothers, Neal “Buddy” Barnes, Jr. and John “Hector” Morris Barnes; three grandchildren, Drina Faye Britt, William Harold Britt, Jr., and Brianna McPherson .
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 7, 2022 at 3:00 PM in the Beaverdam Original Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the McPherson Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior the service in the church.
