Ruth Ann Jordan Walsh 80, passed away peacefully after an extended illness on July 23, 2022 in Whiteville, NC. She was born June 28, 1942 in Louisa, Kentucky. Ruth was the daughter of Woodrow Wilson Jordan and Dorothy Pope Jordan, (both deceased), of Louisa, Kentucky. Ruth was a retired counselor supervisor with the North Carolina Department of Corrections, but she wore many hats during her 30-year career.
She is survived by her son, John Heath Walsh (Allison), of Myrtle Beach, SC; her daughter, Jennifer Lynn Walsh (Steve Wagner) of Whiteville; grandchildren, John Heath Walsh II, Sarek Neal Walsh, Skyler Simpson; sister, Julia M. Pennington (Gabe) of Tampa, Florida, one nephew, (Shawn), deceased, 2 nieces (Maya and Tara), 2 great nieces and one great nephew. Ruth was a devout christian all her life, a long time faithful member of the Whiteville United Methodist Church and a member of the Eastern Star. She loved animals, rescued and cared for many during her life. She left behind a dog, Baby, a very old cockatiel, Pepper, and one newly rescued cat. Ruth was a very loving, generous mother and sister. She was good to all people. She loved to volunteer and help others in need. She volunteered for many years as a Guardian ad Litem. She was an exceptional lady. She will be greatly missed.
Her family is planning a memorial service for Ruth at 11:00 am on August 3, 2022 at
Whiteville United Methodist Church. All family and friends of Ruth are welcome to attend.
