Carl Chestnutt,74 of Nakina passed on Tuesday July 25, 2023 at Mcleod Seacoast in Little River SC. He was born April 29, 1949 in Columbus County to the late Ozie Chestnutt and Zula Faulk Chestnutt. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vicky Jane Branch Chestnutt and a brother, Danny Chestnutt.
Carl graduated from Nakina High School and went on to further his education by obtaining a Bachelors of Science as well as a Masters Degree from East Carolina University. Carl worked in the Columbus County School system serving as both a teacher and a coach. Carl was a member of Poley Bridge Baptist Church. Carl’s greatest accomplishment was his children, grand children and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his three daughters; Carla Priest (Robby) of Elizabethtown, Sabrina Ward (Mike) of Nakina and Sonya Hyatt (Jamie Bullard, fiance) of Nakina; three brothers, Roger Chestnutt of Whiteville, Terry Chestnutt (Karen) of Nakina, Ray Chestnutt (Susie) of Nakina; Grandchildren Tori White (Campbell), Garrett Ward (Savannah), Tanner Hyatt, Hunter Hyatt, Trevor Pridgen, Cara Priest and Ryne Priest; Great Grandchildren, Asher White, Parker Ward and Luke Ward; nieces and nephews and a special friend Patricia Horne.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday July 26, 2023 from 6:00-8:00pm at Peacock Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Thursday July 27,2023 at 2:00pm at Poley Bridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Lane officiating. The burial will follow in the Williamsons cemetery.
