Deputies Breach Door to Arrest Woman

Deputies were forced to break through a door on a Five Points home Tuesday after a woman refused to surrender on outstanding charges.

Renee Michelle McKinnies, 28, was charged with resisting an officer and failure to appear on a misdemeanor. Her bond was set at $2,500 secured. McKinnies’ address was listed as 60 Five Points Dr., Chadbourn.

The sheriff’s office reported that a deputy went to the McKinnies home aro9und 12:20 p.m. to serve a warrant for failure to appear. McKinnies initially came outside to speak to the deputy, then asked to contact someone to care for her children. The deputy agreed, and McKinnies went back inside to call a family member.

After making the call, the report said, McKinnies refused to exit the home. The deputy called for backup, and after consulting a supervisor, the deputies broke through to door of the home and took her into custody. The children were unharmed, and turned over to a family member.
