A Lumberton area woman was jailed Tuesday after allegedly using a trashcan to attack a sheriff’s office patrol car.
Hannah Locklear, 39, of Virgie Road, was held under $2,500 secured bond, according to arrest reports. She was charged with damage to property.
Whiteville Police were dispatched to the area around the Columbus County Courthouse around 5 p.m. Tuesday when several callers reported a woman trying to gain entry to closed businesses around the square. Locklear was allegedly blocking traffic as well as trying to get into the businesses.
At the courthouse annex, Locklear obtained a large metal trashcan that she reportedly used to damage the county Dodge Charger. The rear passenger side door and window were damaged, and Locklear allegedly walked across the car before making her way to the roof.
Whiteville Police spotted her sitting on the roof of the car at the courthouse, according to the report. Deputies and police approached Locklear, who refused to come with the officers, saying they should be out “catching murderers,” according to the report.
When she was taken into custody, the report said, Locklear gave no reason for damaging the car.
