There was a lot of thunder rolling through Columbus County Saturday, but there wasn’t a storm involved.
Instead, it was the sound of several dozen motorcycles being ridden honor the country’s military.

The annual Freedom Isn’t Free Run drew 32 motorcycles and more riders to the Veterans Memorial Park for a day of recognizing American service members and raising money for the park.

The annual motorcycle ride drew both former military and civilian riders who rode from the park to Beach house Harley Davidson ion Shallotte, then back to Slugger’s Deli for lunch.

Rev. Dave Heller opened the annual ride with a prayer for safety and the country. Columbus County Sheriff’s Deputies escorted the riders for much of the route.
