Family Fur Day is Saturday

Shelter Dog

Dogs, cats and families will be the focus Saturday at the second Family Fur Day at Columbus County Fairgrounds.

Sponsored by Animal Protective Services, this year’s event will feature food trucks, a bouncy house, games and activities for children, information and educational booths, and adoptable pets from the shelter.

All the animals brought to last year’s Fur Day were adopted by the day’s end. Organizers hope this year will see the same success.

Adoption fees are cut in half for the month of August, with the fees reduced to $67.50 for dogs and $37.50 for cats. The adoption fee includes a rabies shot, spay or neuter voucher, deworming and some vaccinations. The event is from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at the fairgrounds off Prison Camp Road in the town of Brunswick.

Pets are available for adoption Monday through Friday at the shelter on Legion Drive in Whiteville. Hours are 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. For more information, call 910.641.3945.
