Two familiar faces have new jobs in the Columbus County courts.
District Court Judge Ashley Gore was invested as Superior Court Judge Monday in a special ceremony in Whiteville. Gore replaces Doug Sasser Jr., who retired last month.
Gore most recently served as a district court judge in Brunswick and Columbus counties, and was previously an assistant district attorney.
Also on Monday, Gov. Roy Cooper announced the nomination of Quintin McGee for Special Superior Court Judge. McGee will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of the Honorable Stanley Carmichael on July 1.
“Judge Quintin McGee brings years of legal and judicial experience to the bench,” Cooper said. “The Superior Court plays an important role in our state’s justice system, and we’re grateful for his willingness to step up and continue serving North Carolina.”
McGee currently serves as an Assistant Public Defender in North Carolina’s 5th Judicial District. He also served as a District Court Judge for the 13th Judicial District and was Chief Assistant District Attorney for the 15th Prosecutorial District.
