December 28, 1941 — August 1, 2023
LeRoy Register, Jr., 81, walked into the presence of his Lord and Savior, and a beautiful reunion with loved ones on Tuesday, August 1, 2023. LeRoy was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. LeRoy was married to Faye Register for 54 wonderful years and was a loving father to Jerry Register (wife Djuana) and Jenny McLamb (husband Michael). LeRoy was blessed with three grandchildren, Caroline Crotts (husband Brinson), Michael Jesse McLamb II (wife Amanda), Bonnie McLamb, and one great grandson, Cager Crotts. During the last five years of his life, LeRoy was blessed with a loving wife, Mary Lou Register and an extended family of Sherrie Britt, Robbie Lynn Bridgeman, Tyler Cox, Trevor Cox, Heather Ivey, Shannon Fowler, Gracie Ivey, Billy Fowler, and Dylan Fowler.
LeRoy was one of seven children born to LeRoy Register Sr. and Bonnie McDuffie Register, who both precede him in death. Also preceding him in death is wife, Faye Hill Register. LeRoy is survived by six siblings: Virginia Bullard, Jimmy Register, Billy Register, Wilma Bullard, Kenneth Register, and Mary Alice Dowd. LeRoy was blessed with the affection of other family members that loved him as one of their own. Wonderful Brothers and Sisters-in-Law were very dear to his heart and are the source of memories that were the root of many excellent stories over the years.
LeRoy spent most of his life in public service as an officer of the law and a magistrate. He left a legacy of hard work, service, and integrity to all who knew him. LeRoy’s CB handle was Plow Boy, and it was a well-earned moniker, as he used his vast talents as a farmer and master “tractor man”, to best serve his neighbors. He was well known for his willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need. LeRoy touched many lives in many ways. White Oak was home to LeRoy for most of his life, and is where he built a beautiful home place, outstanding memories and an excellent reputation. In the last several years, LeRoy’s life was brightened and enlarged by his involvement in the Lumberton area as he created his life with Mary Lou and the friends he made there.
The family extends a loving thank you to the staff of UNC Health Southeastern’s Intensive Care Unit, who showed amazing professionalism, compassion, and customer service during LeRoy’s last days.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home from 6-8 pm. The Celebration of Life service will be held at White Oak Baptist Church on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at 3:00 pm.
The family will receive friends at other times at LeRoy’s home he shared with his wife Mary Lou at 8648 NC Hwy 41 N., Lumberton, NC 28358 and at Jenny McLamb’s home (former homeplace) at 1449 Gum Shaw Rd, White Oak, NC 28399.
