The county’s newest school will host a ribbon cutting and tours Aug. 24.

Tabor City School consolidates Tabor Elementary and Middle schools. The $30 million facility on Stake Road will house 550 students when it opens for classes Aug. 28.

Parents and the public can get a preview of the new school on self-guided tours after the 9 a.m. ribbon cutting.

The state-of-the-art facility has 45 classrooms and is expected to serve for 35 years. The facility was planned to accommodate the anticipated growth taking place in the southern end of the county.

The public is welcome to attend the event.
