Diantha Fairfax Cartrette, age 81, of Lake Waccamaw, NC, passed away peacefully at the Angel House Lower Cape Fear Life Care, Whiteville. Diantha was born in Columbus County on October 7, 1941 to the late Alex Fairfax and Mamie Hilburn Fairfax. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband; Jerry Cartrette.
Diantha was a member of Lake Waccamaw Presbyterian Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter; Diantha Joan Cartrette of Whiteville, her son; Eddie Cartrette (Lisa) also of Whiteville, two brothers; Bill Fairfax (Jo) of Green Sea, SC and Ken Shelly (Diane) of Chadbourn, two sisters; Oylanda Suggs (Herman) of Loris, SC and Doris Griffith of Harley Field, SC, three grandchildren; Jeremy Bunch (Brittany), Timothy Bunch (Billie) and Megan Cartrette, eight great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 11:00 am in the McKenzie Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Darryll Hester officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 10:45 am prior to the service. Burial will follow at Whiteville Memorial Cemetery.
