Scott Ryan Spivey (33 years) entered eternal rest September 9, 2023. He was born March 5, 1990, in Raleigh, NC to Byron Dale and Deborah Harrelson Spivey.
Scott was a 2008 graduate of South Columbus High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Business Management in 2013 from North Carolina State University. At NC State, he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. He enjoyed working as an Independent Insurance Appraiser and Adjuster for Leverage PA Firm.
Scott touched many lives during his short time here on earth. He was a loyal and devoted friend to many. Coaching baseball and football youth teams was one of his passions. Impacting the lives of many of his players on and beyond the field, they became part of his family. He loved hunting and fishing and was an avid outdoorsman. Scott was an ardent college sports fan who loved to talk recruiting and about his NC State Wolfpack.
Those left to mourn his passing and to cherish his memories include his loving parents, his beloved sister, Jennifer Spivey Foley (Grayson) of Fair Bluff, NC; a niece, Makenna Foley and a nephew, Grant Foley; his aunts and uncles: Wanda (Bill) Suggs of Loris, SC; Pam Harrelson of Myrtle Beach, SC; Emily (James) Simmons of Whiteville, NC; Wendy (Bill) Sarvis of Conway, SC; and Darryl Spivey of Tabor City, NC.
His other “brothers and sisters” include his cousins: Barry Suggs, Kevin Suggs (Laura); Lindsey Bell (Kyle), William George Sarvis, III (Jennifer); Ashley Simmons; Nicole Hallman (Jonathan); and Amber Simmons Russell.
Scott was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Winston and Joan Wright Harrelson of Loris, SC; and his paternal grandparents Bruce and Florine Cox Spivey of Tabor City, NC.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 15, 2023, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Inman Ward Funeral Home, Tabor City.
Scott’s Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 11:00 am at South Columbus High School. Burial will follow in the Walton Spivey Cemetery located on 2195 Mollie-Iron Hill Road, Tabor City, NC. Reverend Dale Willoughby will lead his celebration.
Pallbearers will be Christian Nobles, Hugh Thomas McPherson, Barry Suggs, Kevin Suggs, Kyle Bell, Ashley Simmons, William George Sarvis III “Bud”, Xavier McCoy, Jacob Fornes, and Lucas Fornes.
