Nancy Gail Shatney Blackburn, age 69, of Clarkton, NC went to her eternal home on Monday, October 16, 2023, while at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical center in Wilmington. She was born the daughter of the late Sherman Shatney and Velna Gilbert Shatney in Coos County, New Hampshire. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Roxanne Rouleau, Milton Shatney and her fur baby, Freckles.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Allen Blackburn of Clarkton, son Lucas Cauller (Cayenne Amey) of Colebrook, NH, daughter Stacey Cauller (Courtney Veeder) of Highgate, VT, sister Becky Darger (Brad) of Custer, SD, three grandchildren Izzy Veeder, Eleanora Veeder, and Dart Cauller and several nieces and nephews.
Nancy loved her family and friends dearly. She had a compassionate spirit that always went the extra mile for others. Nancy had a love of arts & crafts, dancing, the beach, and working outdoors. Her home and her yard were kept immaculate, always decorated for each holiday. In the summers you could often see her shelling beans, gathering corn, or making jams and jellies to put up for the winter. She never gave up on anything and would always find a way to make things happen. She was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her optimism, her genuine smile and her love of life will live on in the hearts and minds of all that love her.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 1:00 pm at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church at 9512 Red Hill Rd in Clarkton with the Reverend Coy Long Jr. officiating.
