Lake, Whiteville Swear in Boards Tuesday

New and incumbent board members will take the oaths of office Tuesday in two local municipalities.

At Lake Waccamaw, East Ward Karl Bracey and West Ward Commissioner Terry Littrell were unopposed. They will receive the oath of office at the start of Tuesday’s meeting.

In Whiteville, newcomer Josh Harris will be sworn in with incumbents Kevin Williamson, Jimmy Clarida and Mayor Terry Mann. Harris led the vote tallies over all five District One candidates, where two seats were available, those held by Williamson and Emory Worley. Worley came in third in the race, ahead of two more newcomers, Shaq Davis and Alex Meeks.

Tuesday’s Whiteville city council meeting starts at 6:30 p.m.

State law requires that municipal officials be sword in the first regular meeting of December after Election Day.

In the town of Brunswick, Everlene Davis and Jacqueline Rowland both lost their seats on the Brunswick commission, with Shirley Moore and Jason Elleby taking the two seats. The Brunswick board elects its own mayor at the first meeting of the new board.
