Suspects Sought in Car Shooting

Two gunmen allegedly blocked their victim in, riddled his car with bullets and fled the scene Saturday near Tabor City.

Billy Lenny McCovers, 24, told deputies he was driving down Miller Road when a vehicle pulled out and followed him for a short distance before passing. A second vehicle then pulled in behind McCovers.

When the three vehicles reached an intersection, the report said, suspects in both cars opened fire, striking the Ford Crown Victoria in the front and rear. The suspects then drove away, and the victim crashed into a nearby ditch.

The report said McCovers was uninjured but was taken to Loris Hospital as a precaution.

Around $1,500 ibn damage was sustained by the Ford. No injuries were reported.
