Tommy Lee Hughes

September 5, 1973 ~ January 25, 2024 (age 50)

Tommy Lee Hughes age 50 of Lake Waccamaw, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at his home.

He was the son of the late Thomas Lee Hughes and was also preceded by a brother, Brian Hughes.

A celebration of life will be held at Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church, in Clarendon, on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Wayne Faulk officiating.

The family will speak to friends prior to the service at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary.

Tommy was employed by Smith Auto Sales, where he worked beside his best friend, and father-in-law Chris Smith for the past nine years. Tommy was happiest helping others, anyone who knew Tommy became an immediate friend because of his love for people. Tommy was loved by everyone, but he loved even bigger. He deeply cherished his wife, children, and his entire family. Tommy will be remembered most by his laughter, his sunny personality, and great big smile.

Tommy is survived by his wife, Christin Danielle Smith Hughes of the home; three children, Grace Newton-Reed of Orlando, FL, Evelyn “Evie” Hughes of Port St. John, FL, and Parker Lee Hughes of Port St. John, FL; his mother, Pamela Jean Bennett Hughes of Owensboro, KY; a brother, Billy Hughes (Patience) of Lake Waccamaw; nieces and nephews, Hadley Hughes, Lilly Hughes, Mia Hughes, Keaton Hughes, Max Hughes, Payton Hughes and Kayden Hughes; aunts, Brenda Baxley, Debi Bennett, and Sandra Ward; uncles, Robert Kirk and Willis Watson; Cassie Hughes, mother of Grace, Evie and Parker; father-in-law, Christopher Smith (Alice Price) of Lake Waccamaw; mother-in-law, Jennipher Blackman and husband, Michael of Whiteville; sister-in-laws, Madison and Morgan Blackman; and “Grand Ma”, Mildred Smith Hallsboro; and his best friends, Steve Marlowe and his wife, Gretchen, Brad Wade and his wife Tammy, and Heath Byrd “Little Byrd,” “his boys,” Clay Spaulding, Luke Patrick, and Lacy Simmons; and his beloved dogs, Bear, Bonnie, and Clyde.
