Faye Smith Pierce, 91, of Whiteville, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, March 22, 2024, at the Angel House in Whiteville, NC.
Faye was born on December 10, 1932, daughter of the late Grady Theodore Smith and Missouri Frances Long Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm A. Pierce; her children, Barbara Dean Pierce Rotunda, (infant twins) Mary Angela Pierce and William Angelo Pierce; grandchild, Aubrey Cartrette; siblings, Helen Gray Smith, and Bobby Lay Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Trinity Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the Pierce Cemetery, Hallsboro.
The family will have a time of visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday evening, at Trinity Baptist Church in Whiteville.
In 1978, Malcolm and Faye Pierce became charter members of Whitemarsh-Welches Creek Fire Department, during which she was elected as the first secretary. She served on the first board of directors, where she held this office position and served for many years. From 1981-1987, Faye was WMU Director for Columbus Baptist Association. Faye worked in the nursery at Columbus County Hospital (now CRHS) from 1987-1990, and worked for the DWV from 1990-2006.
The surviving family includes a son, Malcolm “Buddy” Pierce and wife, Avonda, of Whiteville; daughter, Helen Pierce Gore (Frankie) of Whiteville; siblings, Patricia Smith Harper (Roger) of Harrisburg, NC, Linda Faye Smith Jordan of Myrtle Beach, SC, Brenda Hinson of Whiteville; grandchildren, Angie Ward Reaves (Matt), Denise Ward (Keith), Roy Dillon Gore (Blair); great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Melany Gore, Roy Dale Gore, Beau Malcolm Gore, Renee’ Dean Gore, Luke Allen Cartrette.
