The victim in Thursday night’s shooting on Wagon Wheel Drive near Evergreen has been identified as Kaylee Fowler, 17.
Miss Fowler was allegedly shot to death around 9 p.m. by her father, Jeffrey Fowler, 56. Fowler was shot five times and is in New Hanover Regional. Warrants have been issued for his rest when he is released.
The teen was killed when she intervened in an argument between her parents, Sheriff W.A. “Bill” Rogers said. She was shot twice in the head.
No additional information, including how Fowler was shot, has been released by the sheriff’s office.
The victim’s name was confirmed by friends.
The killing was the second in five days, and the second this year. Antonio Maultsby Jr., 7, was shot to death in his Braswell Road home near Chadbourn Saturday.
