Colum bus county deputies were on patrol at Smyrna road and U.s. 701 North when they noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming form a blue Chrysler 300, according to the report. They followedthe car for a short distance to confirm the odor was from the Chrysler, and initiated a traffic sotp.
Vereen allegedly fled at a high rate of speed through a red light at Smyrna and U.S. 701, driving into oncoming traffic and through stop signs.
“Speeds reached 130 (miles per hour) multiple timed during the chase,” the report said.
The driver made a turn and lost control, and the car came to rest on the right side of the roadway. Vereen was “assisted out of the vehicle and put into restraints.”
No injuries were reported.
