April 30, 1938 ~ April 10, 2024 (age 85)
Mr. Charles Verton Stocks 85, of Nakina passed on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 in New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was born April 30, 1938 in Brunswick County, the son of the late Council Stocks and Fannie Smith Stocks.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Nell Gore Stocks; a sister, Lillian Hardie and his parents.
Mr. Stocks was a longtime member of Seven Creeks Baptist Chrch. He was a retired farmer and painter. He loved his church and community. He served and loved his Lord.
He is survived by two sons, Charles E. Stocks (Faye) of Nakina and Anthony Hall Stocks of Nakina; a daughter, Laura Lynn Penny (Robert) of Whiteville; grandchildren, Misty Hardwick (Chris) of Nakina, Kyle Stocks (Paige) of Hickory, Talisha Gibson of Nakina, Casey Penny of Nakina, Taylor Housand (Addison) of Tabor City, Zach Stocks of Tabor City; great grandchildren, Autumn Hardwick, Joel Hardwick, Aubrey Stocks, Aedan Stocks, Castle Gibson, Anaelle Housand, Declan Housand, Oliver Stocks and Calvin Stocks; two Great-great grandchildren, Charley Mae Suggs and Dallas Suggs.
His funeral service will be at 3:00 pm Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Seven Creeks Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Turner and Rev. Mark Hughes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
His family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 pm Friday, April 12, 2024 at Peacock Funeral Home.
