Marvaneen Ward Davis, 93, of Chadbourn, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center in Whiteville.
Final rites will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Piney Forest Baptist Chruch with Pastor Willard McPherson officiating. Interment will follow in Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 10:45 am prior to the service at the church.
She was a graduate of James Walker School of Nursing graduating in 1951. Upon graduation she was employed by Columbus County Hospital for several years and later at the Columbus County Health Department for over 25 years, retiring in 1993.
Marvaneen was born in Columbus County to the late Archie Leon Ward, Sr. and Annie Ruth Gore Ward and was the widow of William Franklin Davis, Sr. She was preceded in death by two siblings, Mitchell Wayne Ward, and Nancy Carol Persons.
To cherish her memory she leaves two sons, Wayne W. Davis (Denise) of Chadbourn and William Franklin Davis, Jr. of Whiteville; siblings, Archie Leon Ward Jr. of Tabor City and Hilda Ward Rose (Ed) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; three grandchildren, Jessica Strickland (Colby), Courtney Gray (Timothy), and Caroline Westbrooks (Matt); six great-grandchildren, Lance Strickland, Davis Strickland, Carson Hicks, Trey Gray, Madeline Westbrooks, Braden Westbrooks. A special thank you to her caregiver, Kay Clark for her loving care shown to our mother.
