Gary Dean Godwin, 77, of Chadbourn, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 24, 2024, at his residence, surrounded by his family.
Gary Dean was born on March 18, 1947, son of the late Lonzie Godwin and Dallie “Dale” Nobles Godwin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn, with burial to follow in the Mercer Cemetery. Pastor Buddy Seay will officiate.
The visitation will be from 3:00 PM until 3:45 PM on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Gary Dean was a member of Beaverdam Original Free Will Baptist Church. He was a retired state worker, boilermaker, and most recently, retired from farming. For many years, Gary Dean along with his wife, Ann, owned and operated Godwin’s Grocery & Grill in Chadbourn.
Gary Dean leaves behind his loving wife, Ann Hilburn Godwin of the home; children, Crystal Godwin McGirt and husband, Timothy, of the home, Chasity Godwin Fowler and husband, Brad, of Chadbourn; sister, Diana Godwin Shelley and husband, Kenith, of Chadbourn; two grandsons, Chandler Fowler and Easton Fowler. He also leaves behind a host of extended family.
