Najee Dizon Leach was arraigned this morning on charges of murder, murder of an unborn child, and other felonies in Bladen County.
Leach, 31, allegedly gunned down Bolivia Monique Williams Tuesday night on Dixon Road in East Arcadia. Williams was 25 weeks pregnant.
Williams and Leach had been in a relationship, an acquaintance said. Williams had a Whiteville address.
Chief Asst. District Attorney Allan Adams said Leach was held on charges of murder, murder of an unborn child, robbery with a dangerous weapon, discharging a firearm into occupied property and larceny of a motor vehicle.
The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that deputies were called to the 100 block of Dixon Road Tuesday night around 9:45 p.m. to a shots fired report. While there, they discovered Williams’ body.
Upon further investigation, deputies were able to identify Leach as a suspect, and determine what kind of vehicle he was driving. Law enforcement issued an announcement via the media seeking tips on Leach’s location. He was taken into custody a few hours after the press release.
Adams and District Attorney Jon David appeared before Judge Heath Nance at Leach’s first appearance in Bladen County Superior Court.
